The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has alerted the public about the increasing risks of influenza viruses linked to climate change, emphasizing that these illnesses should not be underestimated. According to health authorities, flu viruses can lead to serious complications including bacterial pneumonia, ear infections, and sinus inflammation, particularly affecting individuals with pre-existing conditions such as heart disease, asthma, and diabetes.
The DHA recommends annual influenza vaccination as the most effective preventive measure, coupled with maintaining good personal hygiene through regular handwashing and sanitizer use. High-risk groups including pregnant women, seniors over 65, and people with chronic lung, kidney, liver, or blood disorders are advised to exercise particular caution. Health officials also stress that symptomatic individuals should avoid contact with others and refrain from touching their eyes, nose, and mouth to prevent virus transmission.
