UAE Universities Partially Reopen for Practical Classes

Abu Dhabi: Universities across the UAE have partially reopened, allowing in-person classes for courses that require hands-on training, following directives from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Practical sessions such as laboratory work, clinical training, in-person exams, and workshops have resumed from today under strict safety measures. Priority has been given to 14 disciplines in the initial phase, particularly in fields like medicine, engineering, and applied sciences.

Students enrolled in these programmes are now permitted to attend campus, while most other students will continue with online learning.

Academic officials noted that certain subjects, especially in engineering and applied sciences, cannot be effectively delivered through virtual platforms alone. Universities are therefore ensuring that classes are conducted safely, with flexible schedules where necessary.

Medical-focused institutions, including those offering courses in medicine, dentistry, nursing, and physiotherapy, are prioritising in-person sessions due to the need for direct patient interaction and practical training.

To support students, universities have also introduced dedicated helplines and communication channels to address academic queries and concerns.
