Dubai: Authorities in the UAE have warned residents about the risks associated with stagnant water following recent heavy rainfall, as the country enters a period of unstable spring weather.<\/p>
Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Emirates Astronomical Society, said this seasonal phase, locally known as \u201cSarayat\u201d or \u201cMarawih,\u201d typically lasts from mid-March to early May. It is characterised by sudden weather changes, including thunderstorms, heavy rain, and rapidly forming clouds.<\/p>
He explained that these weather systems can develop quickly, leading to intense rainfall and thunderclouds within short periods. The UAE may also be influenced by a regional cloud system extending from Africa across the Arabian Peninsula and the Gulf, bringing rain along with thunder and lightning.<\/p>
Reports indicate that the UAE and surrounding Gulf region have already begun experiencing the effects of an active low-pressure system, which has brought scattered clouds, rainfall, and occasional thunderstorms between March 21 and 27.<\/p>
