Kuwait City: Authorities and agricultural leaders in Kuwait have reassured the public that there is no need to worry about food security, even amid current challenges.<\/p>
Officials said the country\u2019s local agricultural sector has sufficient capacity to meet domestic demand, with production continuing steadily and even increasing in both quantity and variety.<\/p>
Representatives from the farmers\u2019 union explained that recent fluctuations in vegetable prices, including tomatoes, are temporary and linked to a seasonal transition period known as \u201cQalbat Al Urwa.\u201d This phase, which typically lasts two to three weeks, occurs when one crop cycle ends and another begins, leading to minor supply variations.<\/p>
They also confirmed that efforts are being made to ensure equal distribution of available products across cooperative societies.<\/p>
Authorities urged residents to avoid panic buying and excessive stockpiling, warning that such behavior could lead to food waste and unnecessary losses.<\/p>
Prices remain generally affordable, with items like zucchini and cucumbers still within reasonable ranges. Local production is also expanding to include fruits such as bananas, berries, strawberries, as well as mushrooms, flowers, and fish.<\/p>
Officials highlighted that continued government investment in agricultural infrastructure, including roads, electricity, and water systems, has strengthened the sector.
