Kuwait City: The National Bank of Kuwait has urged customers to exercise caution when using free public Wi-Fi networks, warning that hackers may use unsecured connections to steal personal and banking information.<\/p>
The bank advised users to avoid accessing online banking services, making financial transactions or entering credit card details while connected to public Wi-Fi at airports, shopping malls, caf\u00e9s and other public places.<\/p>
According to NBK, cybercriminals often create fake Wi-Fi networks with names similar to legitimate hotspots to trick users into connecting. Once connected, sensitive information such as usernames, passwords and banking credentials can be intercepted or stolen.<\/p>
To improve online security, the bank recommended using only trusted internet connections and enabling two-factor authentication (2FA) on important accounts. Customers were also advised to switch off Wi-Fi on their phones and other devices when it is not in use to reduce security risks.<\/p>
NBK further warned users not to click on suspicious links received through emails, text messages or websites and to avoid sharing personal or financial information in response to unsolicited requests.<\/p>
