Greater flamingos have begun arriving in large numbers as part of their winter migration, with their presence especially notable along the shallow coastal stretches of Kuwait Bay. Flamingos arriving in Kuwait from August will spend autumn, winter, and part of spring along the country&#8217;s coastal regions. Besides Kuwait Bay, they can also be spotted at Jahra Reserve and Sulaibikhat Beach.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As winter sets in more strongly, the number of flamingos is expected to grow further. Reports indicate that in some years, as many as 4,000 birds have arrived along Kuwait&#8217;s shores. They typically begin their return journey to breeding grounds by late March or in April. Flamingos also play an important role in the coastal ecosystem, primarily feeding on algae, microorganisms, and small crustaceans found in shallow waters and mudflats.
