The initiatives, carried out under the “Kuwait Stands by You” campaign and other charitable programmes, combine immediate relief with long-term development efforts aimed at improving living conditions.

In Benin, Ataa Humanitarian Association has provided food assistance to around 1,000 people and healthcare support to approximately 400 beneficiaries. The medical assistance included medicines, nutritional supplements and essential supplies, particularly for people experiencing malnutrition. Association Director General Dr. Omar Al-Shaqraa told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that food baskets were distributed to help low-income families meet daily needs. The association’s delegation also inspected 46 mosques built by the organisation, which serve around 6,900 worshippers.

In Tanzania’s Zanzibar region, Namaa Charity, affiliated with the Social Reform Society, partnered with Bahrain’s KAF Humanitarian Foundation to inaugurate Namaa Secondary School. Khaled Al-Shammari, head of the Programs and Initiatives Sector at Namaa Charity, said the project reflected the organisation’s commitment to education as a driver of sustainable development. The school has nine rooms, including five classrooms, as well as laboratories and other educational facilities intended to support academic learning and practical skills.

In Kyrgyzstan, Al-Safa Humanitarian Charity Association has undertaken projects covering housing, healthcare, water infrastructure and religious facilities. The programme includes three residential villages with approximately 275 homes, including two villages of 100 and 75 homes in Naryn Region and another village of 100 homes elsewhere in the country. Kuwaiti philanthropists funded the housing projects to provide families with safer and more stable living conditions.

The association has also inaugurated a specialised hospital and medical clinics equipped to provide essential healthcare. One clinic includes an emergency department serving an area with approximately 15,000 residents, along with people from neighbouring villages. Additional medical facilities have been established to improve access to treatment, while water networks in villages around Bishkek and in Osh Region aim to provide communities with more reliable access to safe water.

Association Chairman Mohammad Al-Shaya told KUNA that the projects were intended to address essential needs while supporting longer-term stability and development. Together, the initiatives demonstrate the range of Kuwait’s overseas charitable work, bringing relief and essential infrastructure to communities facing economic hardship and limited access to basic services.

Kuwaiti charitable organisations are expanding humanitarian assistance across vulnerable communities overseas, delivering food aid, healthcare, housing, education and clean water projects in Benin, Tanzania and Kyrgyzstan.
