Dubai Unveils Massive NYE 2026 Security & Transport Plan: 48 Fireworks Displays, Road Closures, Metro Boost

Dubai authorities have finalized a comprehensive security and operational plan for New Year’s Eve 2026, involving nearly 10,000 Dubai Police personnel, more than 1,600 security patrols, and extensive emergency and medical support across the emirate. The Event Security Committee announced that 48 fireworks displays will be held at 40 approved locations—including Burj Khalifa, Palm Jumeirah, Expo City, and Global Village—to distribute crowds and ensure safety. Marine zones will be monitored by 53 rescue boats, while 1,754 Civil Defence staff and 236 ambulances will be on standby.

To manage the expected millions of celebrants, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will deploy 107 Metro trains, 1,300 public buses, and 14,000 taxis, supported by over 5,500 RTA staff. Phased road closures will begin from 4 PM on December 31 in Downtown Dubai, with full closure of Sheikh Zayed Road from 6 AM December 31 until 2 AM January 2, 2026. Alternative routes and public transport are strongly advised.

Medical readiness has been significantly scaled up, with 635 paramedics, specialized ambulances, air ambulance support, and mobile medical units positioned in high-density and coastal areas. Dubai Ambulance will also operate bicycle responders, golf carts, and marine rescue teams to ensure rapid intervention. Additionally, 13,502 private security personnel and 18,000 limousines will assist in crowd management and transportation.

Authorities urge residents and visitors to use the Metro, check nol card balances, follow official safety instructions, and avoid restricted zones. Real-time updates will be shared via RTA and police channels, while emergency numbers—999, 901, and 998—will be operational 24/7. The integrated plan underscores Dubai’s commitment to hosting safe, world-class celebrations as it reinforces its status as a leading global NYE destination.
