New Bridge in Bahrain to Slash Manama–Diyar Al Muharraq Travel Time by 20 Minutes

A new bridge connecting Manama and Diyar Al Muharraq in Bahrain is set to open soon, promising to reduce travel time by up to 20 minutes even during peak hours. The bridge will link the Sheikh Isa bin Salman Bridge to Road 105, providing a much-needed alternative to congested routes and improving connectivity between two major urban zones. The project addresses long-standing traffic challenges faced by residents and daily commuters.

The three-lane bridge is designed to ensure safe, bidirectional traffic flow and is expected to significantly ease congestion in surrounding areas such as Busaiteen, Sayah, Deir, and Samahij. By diverting traffic from existing overcrowded bridges, the new link aims to enhance overall road network efficiency and support smoother urban mobility across northern Bahrain.

Constructed in coordination with the Municipal Affairs, Transport Department, and Electricity and Water Authority, the bridge is part of Bahrain’s broader road infrastructure development plans. Authorities plan to open the bridge on a trial basis by the end of the year, with a full public launch to follow after monitoring initial traffic performance and making any necessary adjustments.

The project has been highly anticipated by local communities and is seen as a milestone in Bahrain’s ongoing urban development. Once operational, it is expected to not only save commuters time but also boost economic activity by improving access between key residential and commercial areas. The bridge underscores the government’s focus on enhancing transportation infrastructure to meet growing urban demands.
