Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has urged residents and visitors to rely on public transport for New Year’s Eve 2026 celebrations to ease traffic congestion and ensure safe mobility. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the RTA confirmed its operational readiness, announcing that the Dubai Metro will run continuously for 43 hours from 5:00 AM on December 31, 2026, until 11:59 PM on January 1, 2027—to connect residential areas with major celebration hubs like Downtown Dubai and Dubai Marina.
The Dubai Tram will also offer extended service, operating from 6:00 AM on December 31 until 1:00 AM on January 1 to facilitate movement in coastal districts. Additionally, the RTA is adjusting bus services to prioritize high-demand routes. The E100 intercity service from Al Ghubaiba will be temporarily suspended from the afternoon of December 31, with the last departures at noon from Abu Dhabi and 2:00 PM from Dubai. The route will remain closed until January 4, 2027; travelers to Abu Dhabi are directed to use the E101 service from Ibn Battuta Station.
Passengers are encouraged to plan ahead using the S’hail app for real-time updates and to check the RTA website for detailed schedules, including marine transport timings. The authority emphasized that early planning is key to avoiding holiday congestion and ensuring a smooth journey for all celebrants.
By expanding public transport options and adjusting service schedules, Dubai aims to manage the expected surge in movement efficiently while minimizing road traffic. These measures reflect the emirate’s commitment to smart urban mobility and proactive event management, ensuring that NYE 2026 celebrations are both enjoyable and safe for everyone.
