The UAE’s long-awaited national passenger rail service, Etihad Rail, is set to begin operations this year, connecting 11 cities across the emirates. The network will link major hubs including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and Fujairah with stations in key residential and commercial centers.
A fleet of 13 trains, each with a 400-seat capacity, aims to carry an estimated 10 million passengers annually. The service is expected to ease inter-emirate road congestion, boost domestic tourism, and reduce carbon emissions, following the successful launch of its freight operations in 2023.
