Following the change in Friday prayer timing to 12:45 PM across the UAE, schools in Dubai are adjusting their weekly schedules. While Sharjah schools have shifted to a four-day week, Dubai institutions have largely opted to retain a five-day schedule with significantly reduced hours on Fridays to allow students and staff to attend prayers.
Many schools now end by or before 12:00 PM on Fridays, often with shorter class periods. Some have introduced alternate schedules, extracurricular activities, or online classes. Parents and teachers express concern that a four-day week could lead to incomplete syllabi, potentially necessitating extra classes on weekends. Educational authorities continue to monitor the adjustments as schools aim to balance academic requirements with the new prayer timetable.
