Kuwait has introduced a new digital facility allowing travellers to declare cash electronically before crossing land or air borders. Under existing regulations, anyone carrying more than 3,000 Kuwaiti dinars — or its equivalent in foreign currency — must officially declare the amount.
To simplify the process, the General Administration of Customs has launched a new e-service through the Sahl app. Travellers can now submit their cash declaration online before arriving at airports or border checkpoints.
Once the declaration is completed, users will receive an electronic notice within the app. Customs officers can then verify the notice at the border and complete the necessary procedures more efficiently.
Officials said the move is part of Kuwait’s broader digital transformation efforts aimed at enhancing transparency, reducing delays at border crossings and improving the overall travel experience.
