Kuwait City: Firefighters worked continuously for 58 hours to bring a massive fire under control at fuel storage tanks near Kuwait International Airport following a drone attack.
Brigadier General Mohammad Al Gharib, Director of Public Relations and Media and official spokesperson of the fire department, confirmed that the blaze was triggered when hostile drones struck fuel storage facilities in the airport area.
Despite significant material damage, no casualties were reported. Emergency teams remained on site around the clock under challenging conditions to prevent the fire from spreading and to protect nearby critical infrastructure.
During a joint press conference, officials revealed that 15 hostile drones were detected and intercepted, some of which targeted areas near the airport and caused damage to radar systems.
Ministry of Defence spokesperson Colonel Saud Al Atwan stated that armed forces remain on high alert, coordinating closely with various security agencies and using advanced monitoring and response systems to ensure national safety.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Interior spokesperson Brigadier General Nasser Bousleib said special forces successfully intercepted and shot down three drones. He added that explosive ordnance disposal teams handled nine incidents involving falling debris in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of such reports to 588 since the attacks began.
The fire department also reported handling 82 emergency cases related to fires caused by direct attacks or falling debris, while maintaining nationwide readiness and securing key locations.
