Kuwait Municipality Enforces Midnight Closure for Businesses in Residential Areas

  • 25/09/2025

The Kuwait Municipality has reiterated its mandate that all commercial establishments, including restaurants, located within private residential areas across the country's six governorates must cease operations by 12 midnight. This administrative decision reinforces existing regulations aimed at managing commercial activity in residential neighborhoods.

The directive includes specific provisions for businesses with multiple entrances. Such establishments are permitted to continue fulfilling delivery orders after midnight, but they must close all main doors to the public. Direct sales or handovers of goods within the premises, including parking lots, are strictly prohibited after the deadline.

The municipality also outlined a process for exemptions. Any commercial activity seeking to operate beyond the mandated closing time must first obtain official approval from the Ministry of Interior, ensuring that any exceptions are granted through proper channels.
