The Ministry of Health has opened a major conference on stem cell transplantation and cellular and gene therapy for children, highlighting Kuwait’s commitment to developing an advanced healthcare system. Dr. Abdullah Al-Fares, Assistant Undersecretary for Supporting Medical Services, noted that Kuwait has completed approximately 97 pediatric stem cell transplants, reflecting high national medical standards.
The conference brings together international experts to discuss innovations like CAR-T therapy, gene treatments for hereditary diseases, and advanced transplant strategies. Officials emphasized that gene therapy is a strategic priority, with efforts underway to introduce it domestically under strict safety and quality controls. The event aims to bridge research and clinical practice to improve outcomes for young patients.
