The Al-Ujairi Scientific Center announces that winter has entered a new phase known as the “Shabat” season, beginning January 14 and lasting 26 days. This period marks the peak of winter, characterized by shorter nights, longer days, and the formation of frost.
Cold is expected to intensify significantly during an eight-night sub-period locally called “Al-Aziraq,” starting January 24. This phase will bring strong northerly winds, a sharp drop in temperatures, and a characteristically blue-tinged sky. The season is traditionally viewed as the heart of winter, with its days divided into two 13-day segments linked to specific stars.
