Oman has been hit by a severe cold spell, with temperatures dropping below freezing in some areas. Jebel Shams recorded a low of -0.1°C in the past 24 hours, following a recent dip to -0.8°C on January 18, marking one of the coldest nights of the winter.
Northerly winds have caused temperatures to plummet across the interior highlands and desert regions, with locations like Saikh and Yangal reporting lows of 4.8°C and 9.5°C, respectively. The Civil Aviation Authority has noted the unusually sharp cold affecting much of the country.
