Oman Announces Start of Ramadan in Advance for First Time

Oman has officially announced that Ramadan will begin on February 19, marking the first time the country has declared the start of the holy month in advance. The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs said the Ramadan crescent is not expected to be visible on February 17 (Shaaban 29).

Authorities confirmed that Shaaban will complete 30 days on February 18, and Ramadan will therefore start on Wednesday, February 19. The announcement was made by the main moon-sighting committee responsible for confirming Hijri month beginnings.
