The United States has intensified its military presence in the Middle East as tensions with Iran escalate, following Tehran’s warnings of potential strikes on US bases and assets if conflict breaks out.
Massive C-5M Super Galaxy cargo aircraft, among the largest military planes in operation, have been seen heading toward the region carrying heavy equipment. The deployment also includes fighter jets, aerial refuelling tankers and surveillance aircraft, signalling a significant logistical buildup.
Western media have described the surge in air and naval movements as one of the most substantial US deployments since the period leading up to the 2003 Iraq War. Open-source tracking data and satellite imagery show support aircraft positioned at bases in Europe, suggesting readiness for both defensive and potential offensive operations.
The repositioning comes amid sensitive diplomatic efforts and Iran’s warnings of counter-attacks, including threats against US ships in the region. Analysts say the movement of transport planes and tankers indicates preparation for sustained operations if tensions escalate further.
