Kuwait’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry has closed seven central markets and recorded 32 violations during inspection campaigns carried out in the Jahra Governorate and Mubarak Al Kabeer Governorate.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the ministry said the inspections were conducted following directives from Commerce and Industry Minister Osama Al Budaiwi. The campaign aimed to ensure that shops comply with ministerial decisions and price control regulations in local markets.
Officials reported 18 violations in Mubarak Al Kabeer Governorate for unjustified increases in the prices of locally produced vegetables. Another violation was recorded for illegally raising the price of poultry.
In Jahra Governorate, authorities registered 13 violations and referred the offenders to commercial prosecution authorities for further legal action.
The ministry also ordered the closure of seven central markets for violating price stability regulations and artificially inflating prices.
Officials said inspection campaigns will continue across markets to ensure price stability and protect consumer rights in Kuwait.
