Kuwait City: Major General Jamal Al-Sayegh, Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs and Operations at the Interior Ministry, recently spoke with representatives of dairy companies, the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition (PAFN), and the Vehicle Inspection Department about the problem with ice cream carts.

In the meeting, violations by those driving the ice cream carts were discussed, which produced the following proposals:
• The Kuwait Municipality, PAFN, and General Traffic Department (GTD) have strict regulations that ice cream cart operators must adhere to;
• Ice cream carts must only be used in specific locations;
• Ice cream cart designs should be improved by dairy companies to comply with applicable safety standards, traffic laws, and food safety guidelines;
• Unless they have a licence for this use, motorcycles shouldn't be used to sell ice cream;
• Ice cream cart riders must be properly outfitted. These ideas will soon be submitted to GTD for approval in collaboration with the relevant authorities. The ice cream vendors will have until September 29 to comply after being approved.
