Kuwait has introduced new housing standards for workers, including expatriates, in the country. The Public Authority of Manpower (PAM) has issued new regulations to improve the living conditions of workers in Kuwait. The PAM shared the new regulation through social media. Employers must ensure that each worker’s housing provides a specified amount of space of not less than four square meters. No more than four workers can live in a room.
These measures are designed to reduce overcrowding of workers in various sectors and promote better living conditions. Employers who fail to provide suitable accommodation must provide housing allowance to their workers. In cases where employers are unable to provide adequate housing, workers earning the minimum wage should receive a housing allowance of 25% of their salary. The allowance will be 15% for those earning above the minimum wage.
