Kuwait’s Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi, has approved a comprehensive health requirements guide for health institutes, salons, and beauty centers. Developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the guide aims to raise health standards and ensure a safe environment in line with international best practices.
The guide includes more than 130 provisions covering infection prevention, sterilization, environmental protection, and radiation safety. A joint committee will oversee health supervision to ensure compliance.
Key highlights of the new rules include:
Mandatory training of trainers in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and lifesaving.
Requirement of a certified lifeguard on-site in facilities with pools or saunas.
Health fitness certificates for all workers before employment.
Strict sterilization standards and a ban on reusing razor blades or sharp tools.
Use of only licensed cosmetic products with verified origins.
Prohibition of permanent tattoo devices in salons.
Ban on hair dyeing for children and tanning services for those under 18.
Employees must avoid wearing jewelry while providing services and refrain from working when suffering from skin or contagious diseases.
The Ministry stressed that these measures mark a significant step in enhancing service quality and protecting public health, ensuring the highest levels of safety for society.
