Saudi Arabia has introduced a draft regulation mandating a formal dress code for all employees across government, public, and private sector institutions. The proposed rules require men to wear traditional national attire consisting of thobe, headscarf, gutra, or shamagh, while women must wear modest, non-transparent clothing that fully covers the body.
The regulations also emphasize professional appearance, personal hygiene, and prohibit clothing displaying political or ideological symbols. Additionally, the draft mandates that employees avoid behaviors that offend religious sentiments, promote tribalism, or express political positions contrary to national interests. The guidelines require adherence to Islamic teachings and prevailing cultural values, with the ministry currently seeking public feedback on the proposed measures before implementation.
