Al Ain has been officially named the Capital of Arab Tourism for 2026 by the Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism, marking a significant milestone for the UAE. This recognition follows the city’s earlier designation as the Capital of Gulf Tourism for 2025, highlighting its rising prominence as a cultural and natural destination. Known as the "UAE’s milestone," Al Ain boasts renowned attractions such as Jebel Hafeet, Al Ain Oasis, and the Qasr Al Muwaiji, which have cemented its reputation as a heritage-rich and scenic city.

UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism, Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, stated that this achievement reflects the country’s strategic vision to invest in tourism as a key driver of future economic growth. He emphasized that the honor strengthens the UAE's position on the global tourism map. The tourism sector continues to be a vital part of the national economy, contributing AED 257.3 billion to the GDP in 2024, which accounts for approximately 13% of the country’s total economic output.

This accolade is part of a series of recent tourism successes for the UAE, including the selection of Sheikha Al Nuway as the UN Tourism Secretary General and the recognition of Masfout in Ajman as the World’s Best Tourism Village for 2025. Additionally, Al Faya site in Sharjah’s inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List has further showcased the UAE’s cultural and historical appeal. These achievements collectively underscore the nation’s commitment to sustainable and diversified tourism development.

Al Ain’s role as the Arab Tourism Capital for 2026 is expected to attract greater regional and international visitor interest, promoting cultural exchange and boosting local economic activity. With its unique combination of natural beauty, archaeological heritage, and modern amenities, Al Ain is poised to showcase Emirati hospitality and innovation while supporting the UAE’s broader ambitions in the global tourism landscape.
