PureHealth, the Middle East's largest healthcare group, has unveiled the UAE's most advanced AI-powered diagnostic laboratory in Abu Dhabi. Spanning 70,000 square feet across seven floors, the PureLab facility is designed to process more than 30 million samples each year, integrating AI, robotics, and digital pathology to enhance diagnostic speed, accuracy, and scale. Inaugurated by senior officials from the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), the lab is positioned to become a national cornerstone for critical health programs, including newborn screening, transplant compatibility, and infectious disease monitoring.
The lab leverages a fully automated, AI-enabled platform—featuring Whole Slide Imaging for digital pathology—to allow real-time, remote diagnosis and faster detection of diseases. It offers over 1,800 test parameters across specialties such as molecular genetics, hematopathology, infectious diseases, and environmental testing. With a team of 1,300 clinical experts, the facility emphasizes clinical relevance, data security, and patient-centered diagnostics, while also serving as a hub that interconnects over 140 accredited labs nationwide.
Her Excellency Dr. Fayeza Saif Alyafei of DoH highlighted that the launch marks a major step toward Abu Dhabi’s vision of a smart, integrated healthcare system. She noted that such innovations reinforce the emirate’s leadership in precision diagnostics and AI-driven healthcare. Arindam Haldar, CEO of PureLab, added that the facility sets a new benchmark in diagnostic excellence, supporting the UAE's aim to build a world-class, data-driven health ecosystem.
Built with sustainability in mind, the lab incorporates rooftop solar panels, energy-efficient systems, and a paperless digital framework aligned with the UAE’s net-zero goals. It also improves healthcare efficiency by allowing hospitals and clinics across the country to consolidate testing through a single, cost-effective platform. Additional community services—including walk-in diagnostics and home-testing pilots—further reflect the UAE’s commitment to accessible, patient-focused care.
