Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, has approved a series of strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing urban living and digital security for citizens. The newly approved projects align with the UAE’s ‘Year of the Family’ and Dubai’s Social Agenda 33, with a strong emphasis on family-centric community development and technological resilience. Key approvals include an innovative residential planning model for citizens, a comprehensive Digital Resilience Policy, and the Executive Council’s General Agenda for 2026.
The newly endorsed housing model is designed to foster sustainable, high-quality living environments that promote social connectivity—inspired by the traditional ‘farij,’ or neighborhood gathering. It integrates extensive green spaces, shaded pedestrian walkways, and over 33 kilometers of cycling paths to encourage healthy, active lifestyles. The model also introduces the "20 Minute City" concept, ensuring key amenities like parks, community majlises, schools, and health clinics are within a short walk or cycle. Two major developments, Madinat Latifa and Al Yalayis, will feature a total of 152 parks, nearly 30,000 residential units, and comprehensive urban services.
Alongside urban planning advancements, the Executive Council approved a forward-looking Digital Resilience Policy to strengthen Dubai’s digital governance, economy, and societal infrastructure. This policy focuses on safeguarding critical digital assets, ensuring the continuity of digital services, and integrating advanced technologies like artificial intelligence to enhance cyber security and system durability. Sheikh Hamdan emphasized that the policy is essential for maintaining Dubai’s digital leadership and preparing its infrastructure to withstand future challenges.
The Council also ratified its General Agenda for 2026, which outlines a roadmap to achieve the broader goals of the Dubai 2033 Plan. This agenda spans key focus areas including social development, economic growth, infrastructure, entrepreneurship, and public services. Together, these initiatives reflect Dubai’s integrated approach to building socially vibrant, digitally secure, and sustainable communities for future generations.
