Abu Dhabi has inaugurated the Zayed National Museum, a cultural landmark presenting the UAE's rich heritage through six state-of-the-art galleries. The museum features artifacts spanning 300,000 years, including an 8,000-year-old female burial site discovered on Marawah Island and a 4,000-year-old Bronze Age sword excavated from Al Ain.
Visitors are greeted by an 18-meter ancient boat, followed by galleries displaying shark-tooth necklaces, ancient glass installations used for water collection, and oxidation-colored copper stones from the Hajar Mountains. According to Department of Culture and Tourism Chairman Mohamed Al Mubarak, the museum serves not only as a repository of artifacts but also as an "academic powerhouse" offering scholarships, international training opportunities, and supporting archaeological studies in Al Ain and Al Dhafra.
The institution also features a "Memory Vault" where visitors can contribute family histories and documents, alongside exhibitions highlighting the life and vision of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, whose philosophy that "to know our future, we must know our history" forms the museum's foundational concept.
