UAE Intensifies Market Inspections to Ensure Food Safety and Price Stability

Authorities in the United Arab Emirates have intensified inspections in markets across the country to ensure food safety and prevent unjustified price increases during the current regional situation.

The UAE Ministry of Economy said the availability of food products in the market remains stable despite reports of slight price increases in some vegetables and other items. Officials confirmed that strict measures are being taken to prevent unfair price hikes.

Special inspection teams are conducting daily field visits to markets in coordination with local economic development departments to monitor the availability of food products and verify price levels. Authorities warned that strict legal action will be taken against businesses found violating price regulations.

The ministry also reaffirmed that the prices of nine essential commodities cannot be increased without prior approval. These items include cooking oil, eggs, dairy products, rice, sugar, poultry, pulses, bread and wheat.

Officials said the UAE maintains strategic reserves of essential goods sufficient to last between four and six months in case of emergencies. Authorities assured the public that supply chains remain stable and there is no shortage of food products in the market.

Residents have been encouraged to purchase only what they need and avoid hoarding goods. Authorities added that all necessary precautions have been taken to ensure that consumers face no difficulties during Ramadan.

Consumers who notice unusual price increases can report them through the official communication channels of the Ministry of Economy.
