A magnitude-6.7 earthquake struck off the coast of Davao Oriental on Wednesday morning, sending tremors across the Mindanao region. The quake, with a depth of 42 kilometers, occurred at 11:02 a.m. local time, with its epicenter located about 47 kilometers south-southeast of the municipality of Manay.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reported the tectonic event was felt in several provinces and cautioned the public to expect aftershocks. While there is no tsunami warning and no immediate reports of major damage, local disaster agencies are assessing coastal and urban infrastructure. Instrumental intensity readings indicated moderate shaking in some areas.
