Kuwait Tops Gulf in Human Freedom Index

Kuwait has ranked first among Gulf nations and second in the Arab world in the latest Human Freedom Index report. The annual study, a collaboration between the U.S.-based Cato Institute and Canada’s Fraser Institute, placed Kuwait 113th globally out of 165 countries. The country scored strongly in subcategories, securing notable positions in economic freedom (88th globally) and personal freedom (109th globally).

Other Gulf states also featured in the index, with the UAE, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia all recording rankings between 121st and 148th globally. The index, which assesses 87 indicators across personal, civil, and economic freedoms, is considered the world’s most comprehensive measure of human liberty. Switzerland, Denmark, and New Zealand led the global list.
