Kuwait Issues Ramadan Guidelines for Mosques, Restricts Loudspeakers and Donations

Kuwait’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs has released 11 strict guidelines for mosques during the holy month of Ramadan, covering Taraweeh prayers, iftar gatherings, and donation activities. Mosque staff, including imams and muezzins, have been instructed to strictly follow the new rules.

The ministry has banned the use of external loudspeakers for the five daily prayers as well as for Taraweeh and Qiyam Al-Lail prayers. Outdoor speakers may now be used only for the call to prayer (adhan).

Collecting donations inside mosques, whether in cash or through electronic methods, has also been prohibited unless carried out by officially approved charitable organisations. A list of authorised groups will be announced later.

The new circular assigns additional responsibilities to mosque staff to ensure safety, manage crowds, and allow worshippers to perform prayers without disruption. The measures aim to organise Ramadan activities, reduce inconvenience to nearby residents, and maintain order around mosques during the busy holy month.
