Trump Says US Nearing Goal in Iran War, No Exit Timeline Given

Washington: US President Donald Trump said the United States is moving closer to achieving its objectives in the ongoing military campaign against Iran, but did not provide a timeline for ending the conflict.

In a prime-time address from the White House, Trump stated that US-led operations have significantly weakened Iran’s military capabilities, including its naval, air, and missile systems. He also claimed major setbacks to Iran’s nuclear programme, though these assertions remain unverified.

The president warned that military action could continue for the next two to three weeks and issued strong threats of further strikes if Iran’s leadership does not agree to negotiations.

He said the war could end quickly but declined to specify when. Trump also suggested that key issues such as the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz would be resolved once the conflict concludes.

During his remarks, he blamed Iran for rising fuel prices in the United States and urged countries dependent on Gulf oil to take steps to secure energy routes. He also expressed frustration with the response of NATO allies.

The conflict, which began with a joint US-Israeli offensive on February 28, has now entered its fifth week, with tensions continuing to rise across the region.
