Dubai Opens New Harbour Bridge, Cutting Travel Time to Three Minutes

Dubai: Roads and Transport Authority has officially opened the new Dubai Harbour Bridge, significantly improving access to Dubai Harbour and reducing travel time in the area from 12 minutes to just three minutes.

Opened on June 19, the bridge forms part of Dubai’s wider strategy to enhance transport infrastructure and support the emirate’s continued urban and economic growth. The project improves connectivity to Dubai Harbour, a major tourism and leisure destination that hosts the region’s largest yacht marinas.

The bridge features two lanes in each direction and can accommodate up to 6,000 vehicles per hour. It provides direct access from Sheikh Zayed Road to Dubai Harbour for motorists travelling from both Deira and Jebel Ali, helping ease congestion and improve traffic flow.

According to the RTA, the 1,500-metre bridge starts at Interchange 5 near American University in Dubai and extends to Dubai Harbour Street. The structure includes five integrated ramps and is supported by upgrades at four major intersections to improve road connectivity and traffic distribution.

The overall project is now 90 per cent complete, with additional road links scheduled to open in July. These include connections to Al Naseem Street and the intersection of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street, further enhancing mobility in the area.

RTA said more than 1,400 engineers and workers contributed to the project, completing approximately 4.2 million work hours. Once fully operational, the development is expected to support future residential, tourism and commercial growth while strengthening Dubai’s integrated transport network.
