Kuwait Fire Force Issues Summer Fire Safety Warning

Kuwait City: The General Fire Force has renewed its call for residents to follow fire prevention and safety guidelines as rising summer temperatures increase pressure on electrical systems and appliances.

Brigadier General Mohammed Al-Gharib said community awareness remains the first line of defence against fires and accidents, stressing that prevention is a shared responsibility requiring cooperation from citizens and residents alike.

According to the Fire Force, the most common causes of summer fires include excessive electrical loads, misuse of electrical wiring and appliances, leaving devices running for extended periods, unsafe storage of flammable materials and failure to follow basic safety procedures in homes and commercial facilities.

To reduce fire risks, authorities outlined seven key safety measures: conducting regular maintenance of electrical wiring, ensuring air-conditioning units are functioning properly, avoiding overloading power outlets, keeping flammable materials away from heat sources, installing and maintaining smoke detectors, providing ready-to-use fire extinguishers and establishing clear evacuation plans for buildings and facilities.

Officials also urged parents not to leave children unattended near potential hazards and advised residents to exercise caution when using electrical appliances and gas cylinders. Any safety concerns or potential hazards should be reported immediately to the relevant authorities.

The Fire Force emphasized that adhering to preventive measures can significantly reduce fire incidents and help protect lives and property during the peak summer season.
