Kuwait City: The Kuwaiti Armed Forces General Staff announced that the country’s air defence systems intercepted hostile missile and drone threats after an attempted aerial attack, prompting warning sirens to be activated across several parts of Kuwait.
The military said air defence units were responding to hostile aerial targets in accordance with operational plans and noted that any explosions heard by residents could be the result of interception operations carried out by the defence systems. Authorities urged the public to remain calm, follow official safety instructions and avoid spreading unverified information.
The latest incident comes amid renewed tensions in the Gulf following recent US military strikes on Iranian targets and subsequent Iranian retaliatory actions targeting US-linked military facilities in the region. Reports indicated that both Kuwait and Bahrain activated emergency warning systems as the threats unfolded.
Officials said the situation remains under close monitoring and stressed that updates should be obtained only through official government channels.
