More Security; Interior Ministry Deploys 870 Patrols Ahead of School Reopening in Kuwait

Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has stepped up security and traffic control across the country ahead of the start of the 2026-27 academic year. A total of 870 patrol units have been deployed nationwide to ensure the safety of students and road users. These include 520 security patrols, 200 traffic patrols, and 150 emergency patrols. Security presence has been increased around school premises, major roads leading to educational institutions, and other key locations. To reduce traffic congestion and monitor vehicle movement, 338 traffic surveillance cameras will be used, and flashing systems at traffic signals will also be activated.

Ensuring the security of school premises and key locations will be the responsibility of the security directorates. The Traffic Department will regulate vehicle movement on the roads and monitor it through a control room. In emergencies, the Emergency Police division will respond immediately to complaints received on the number 112.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior’s General Department of Security Relations and Media has also launched a year-long “Prevention and Safety” awareness campaign targeting students, parents, teachers, and the public. The campaign focuses on six key areas: traffic safety, child protection, anti-drug awareness, cybersecurity, awareness against extremist thinking, and environmental protection. The ministry has also advised the public to follow traffic rules, use zebra crossings when crossing roads, keep bank details and verification codes secure, and exercise greater vigilance when it comes to children.
