The Kuwait General Fire Force responded to 8,282 incidents during the first half of 2026, out of 8,751 reports received across the country between January and June, according to official spokesperson Brigadier General Mohammed Al Gharib.
The figures included 3,171 rescue reports, 2,545 reports classified as good-faith reports, 2,159 fire incidents, 819 public service reports and 57 other incidents, Al Gharib said.
Of the 2,159 fires recorded during the period, 629 occurred in residential areas, 314 in non-commercial areas, 432 involved land transportation and 778 occurred at other locations.
The period also saw five aviation-related incidents and one land incident. Al Gharib said the Fire Force and other relevant authorities handled 3,432 rescue-related reports, with the largest share recorded in Ahmadi Governorate.
Authorities also warned that electrical short circuits are among the leading causes of fires. Residents and businesses were urged to regularly inspect electrical wiring and connections, avoid overloading sockets and use qualified technicians for electrical work.
The Fire Force also recommended installing smoke detectors and fire extinguishers in homes and workplaces and ensuring that the equipment remains functional and accessible.
Families were advised not to leave children unattended near electricity, fire or hot appliances. Authorities also urged residents to store gas cylinders and chemicals safely in well-ventilated areas.
The safety measures form part of ongoing efforts to reduce fire risks and improve emergency preparedness across Kuwait.
