Kuwait Backs Stronger Anti-Corruption Measures at OIC Meeting

Kuwait has reaffirmed its commitment to international efforts to combat corruption and promote integrity and transparency at the Third Ministerial Meeting of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Agencies in Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states, held in Baku, Azerbaijan, on October 27 and 28.

Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) participated in the meeting, where Kuwaiti Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohammad Al-Mutairi highlighted the importance of cooperation among OIC member states in addressing corruption-related crimes.

In a press statement, Al-Mutairi said exchanging expertise and information, alongside stronger coordination, was essential to enhancing the capabilities of law enforcement agencies.

He noted that the meeting provided an opportunity to explore ways to improve institutional coordination and expand cooperation among member states’ law enforcement bodies. These efforts aim to strengthen joint action against corruption-related offences and reduce their impact.

Kuwait highlights draft resolution

Al-Mutairi also highlighted the adoption of a Kuwaiti draft resolution concerning movable property, assets and commercial entities linked to corruption-related crimes.

He described the resolution as reflecting Kuwait’s commitment to strengthening anti-corruption efforts and developing effective mechanisms to address such offences.

The discussions underscored the role of international cooperation in tackling corruption, particularly through improved information exchange and coordination between relevant authorities.

Kuwait’s participation reflects its continued support for collaborative efforts within the OIC framework to promote transparency, integrity and more effective responses to corruption-related crimes.
