EXPATRIATES FROM 5 COUNTRIES DO NOT HAVE DIRECT ACCESS TO KUWAIT

Kuwait City: Abdullah al-Khallaf, head of civil aviation passenger and cargo services, said in a circular that foreigners residing in India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka for the past 14 days would not be allowed direct entry into the country. With this, those coming from countries including India have to perform quarantine for 14 days in the third country if they want to enter Kuwait. The new rules will take effect on August 1. Earlier, the authorities had said that expatriates with a valid iqama, a covid vaccination certificate approved by the Ministry of Health and a PCR test report within 72 hours would be allowed to enter Kuwait.

Meanwhile, expatriates traveling from Kuwait on or after September 1, 2019 will be allowed entry if they present a valid residency permit, and those who leave Kuwait on or before August 31, 2019 will not be allowed to enter if they present a valid residence permit. Yusuf al-Fawzan, the head of the Department of Civil Aviation, said yesterday that those who have completed Kuwait-approved vaccines will not be barred from traveling to another country if the vaccine certificate is approved by the Ministry of Health.

With the new proposal, thousands of Indians who have booked tickets to Kuwait will be able to enter the country only after spending 14 days in another country. The new decision comes as a huge disappointment to expatriates who have been waiting for months to return.
