Kuwait: The Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) has officially launched Kuwait’s advanced fifth-generation (5G) technology, marking a major milestone in the country’s digital transformation journey and setting the groundwork for the eventual rollout of sixth-generation (6G) connectivity.

Sheikh Athbi Jaber Al-Sabah, Acting Chairman of CITRA, highlighted that the upgraded 5G network delivers connection speeds of up to 3 gigabits per second with ultra-low latency, enabling faster, more reliable connections for users and businesses alike.

He noted that CITRA is committed to developing a flexible regulatory and legislative framework in collaboration with telecom service providers to ensure Kuwait’s telecom market is fully prepared to adopt this next-level technology. This approach aims to empower both the public and private sectors to leverage investment opportunities in Kuwait’s evolving digital ecosystem.

The launch forms part of CITRA’s broader strategy to upgrade Kuwait’s digital infrastructure, strengthen its competitiveness in the global digital economy, and advance its position as a regional leader in communications technology.

Kuwait now ranks among the world’s pioneers in deploying advanced 5G technology, demonstrating its leadership in embracing cutting-edge innovations and accelerating its shift toward a knowledge-based economy built on innovation and smart solutions.
