Meteorology Warns of Hot, Dusty Weather and Poor Visibility Until Saturday

Kuwait: Director of the Meteorology Department, Dharar Al-Ali, has warned that the country will continue to experience hot, dry, and dusty weather conditions today and tomorrow, with winds intensifying into Saturday.

Speaking to KUNA, Al-Ali explained that weather maps and models show Kuwait is under the influence of the Indian monsoon depression, bringing a hot and dry air mass with light to moderate northwesterly winds, which will become active and strong at intervals.

These winds are expected to raise dust, cause dust storms, and reduce horizontal visibility, especially in open areas, to below 1,000 metres. Sea waves could also rise to over six feet during this period.

Wind activity is forecast to increase tomorrow (Friday) and continue into Saturday, causing significant dust storms and further drops in visibility across most regions. Conditions will remain hot and dusty by day and hot at night, with dust expected to gradually settle by evening on Saturday.

Maximum daytime temperatures will range between 44°C and 46°C, while minimum night temperatures are expected to be between 30°C and 32°C.

The Meteorology Department has advised motorists to exercise caution due to sudden drops in visibility and urged residents to take precautions against dust exposure.
