RETURN OF EXPATRIATES, ASSESSING THAT MONEY TRANSACTIONS WILL INCREASE

  • 03/08/2021

Kuwait City: It is estimated that the return of 280,000 expatriates stranded abroad due to the covid crisis and the return to normalcy will increase remittances abroad. Remittances from outside the country were much lower this year. By 2020, remittances had increased by 18.4 per cent to 5.2 billion Kuwaiti dinars. However, due to the Kovid crisis, it was later reduced significantly. The reason for the increase in remittances in 2020 is that expatriates are widely shifting their savings from Kuwait.

It is hoped that with the return of expatriates, the value will return to normal and remittances will return to normal. The revenue of exchange companies is expected to increase in 2021.
