SHEESHA CAFES ALLOWED TO OPEN IN KUWAIT WITH RESTRICTIONS

Kuwait City: The sheesha cafes, which had been closed for years following the covid expansion, were allowed to reopen with restrictions. Local newspapers reported that the municipality had given permission for the remaining cafes, including restaurants, to open in commercial complexes.

Workers are required to wear masks and gloves, use disposable plates and cups, and disinfect the residue after each use.

The Kuwait Federation of Hookahs and Cafes welcomes the decision of the health authorities to allow cafes to operate. Restaurants and cafes serving Sheesha services have been closed since March 2020 due to the covid epidemic. No concessions were made when everything was open. The union points out that this has pushed the owners of cafes and restaurants into huge debt. Earlier, the union had staged a protest at the ministry. She added that debts such as rent, bank loans and wages to workers had risen to more than one billion Kuwaiti dinars. The union said the new decision would bring relief to the owners.
