FATWA AUTHORITY URGES MAINTAINING SOCIAL DISTANCE BETWEEN WORSHIPERS IN MOSQUES TO PROTECT PUBLIC HEALTH

Kuwait City: The fatwa authority said that although the number of Kovid cases was declining, the health and safety standards in the mosques should be strictly adhered to in order to protect public health and protect people from contagious diseases. Earlier in the day, there were protests from Islamists against the imposition of strict restrictions on malls and stadiums, but on mosques.

The fatwa authority said the decision was based on purely Islamic principles and that everyone was obliged to abide by the country's laws. The fatwa authority gave an explanation in this regard at the emergency meeting held last day. The authority said that most of the churches in the country have a large number of elderly people who come for daily prayers and take such precautions to protect them from being infected.
