IMF SAYS ECONOMIC REFORMS IN KUWAIT WILL TAKE YEARS TO IMPLEMENT

Kuwait City: The IMF estimates that economic reforms in Kuwait will take years to take effect. This was stated in a statement issued by the Central Bank of Kuwait following the visit of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Expert Group from September 26 to October 10, 2021. 


The IMF team met with the Governor of the Central Bank of Kuwait and senior officials of the Central Bank. Many topics were discussed, including monetary policy, regulation and oversight of banking and financial sector units. 

The IMF team emphasizes that economic reforms in Kuwait will take years to implement. The group therefore points out that an interim economic framework is needed to support policy formulation and reform.
