99.5 PERCENT OF POPULATION IS IN DEBT IN KUWAIT

Kuwait City: 99.5 per cent of working citizens in the country are in debt. This is according to a government study conducted by McKenzie Global Consultant. Of the approximately 450,000 citizens in the workforce, 447,000 are reported to be in debt. 


Young people between the ages of 25 and 34 are the biggest borrowers. The average debt per person in this age group is 22,122 dinars. About 17 percent of the 55-year-old workforce, or 60,000 people, are in debt. The report notes that 350,000 clients have a debt ratio of more than 30 percent.
