RENEWAL OF WORK PERMIT FOR PERSON ABOVE 60 IN KUWAIT, FATWA AND LESSENING INTERVENES AGAIN

Kuwait City: The issue of renewing work permits for expatriates who have not graduated from university after the age of 60 remains unclear. For the past 15 months, no solution has been found. Dr. Abdullah Al Salman, Chairman of the Manpower Authority Board of Directors and Minister of Commerce, has addressed the fatwa and lessening on this issue once more and is awaiting a response. 


The minister is seeking a fatwa and a lessee's opinion on whether the authority's board of directors has the authority to charge a fee of 500 dinars to renew the work permits of expatriates who have not graduated from university after the age of 60. Fatwa of Al-Salman and Lessee's response to the legality of the decision to exclude certain sections from this decision. 

Meanwhile, sources said that the fatwa and lessening determined that the decision to impose a 500 dinar fee was incorrect. They claimed that the chairman of the Manpower Authority's board of directors would soon issue an order renewing the work permit at the old rate.
