Kuwait City: Over the past 11 years, Kuwaiti citizens have spent 2.15 billion Kuwaiti dinars on housing grants, according to official figures. Delays in the implementation of some housing schemes have been cited as the reason behind the increase in the cost of rent allowance to citizens in 2020. In 2020, the rent allowance was 227 million Kuwaiti dinars. In the previous financial year, it was only 218 Ln Kuwaiti Dinars.

The figures show that the annual rent allowance has been rising to record levels in recent years. In 2010, it had risen to 155 million dinars. Ten years later, by 2020, it will have reached 227 million dinars. In addition, with the approval of the Civil Service Commission, the Intensive Care Unit, Anesthesia and Emergency Department doctors were given a salary increase of 500 Kuwaiti dinars.
